Gaming for children and young people: Danger or opportunity?

While video game culture was still a niche area 20 years ago, it is now completely integrated into society and ubiquitous. The companies behind it have also further adapted their marketing strategies, mostly targeting children and young people. As a result, it is often a topic that many parents are unprepared for.
This lecture will focus primarily on educating and understanding the topic of "video games." Starting with old prejudices and moving on to scientific findings such as attention span, the FOMO principle of some games, and gambling addiction, we will focus entirely on media education and how parents can approach this complex topic more easily. Examples and tips for application will be provided, which young people can use to question their own behavior, among other things.
