The carpenters look down from the finished roof truss and ceremoniously open the topping-out ceremony for childcare center "ForscherWelt". The shell of the building has been completed and the topping-out wreath has been hung. The first milestone has now been reached. Bärbel Springer, the building owner, is full of enthusiasm for the future: "We can move into our building from December and plan to open on February 1, 2021. We are starting with a crèche and a kindergarten group. Most of the staff are already on board and the management team is already fully staffed." In the coming months, a total of three daycare centers will be built in the city of Lehrte under the independent sponsorship of Global Education GmbH. Global Education gGmbH is part of the pme Familienservice Group, as is the client, Lernwelten Immobilienmanagement GmbH.
Bärbel Springer and architect Andreas Neuenfeld agree that the last few months have been a major challenge for the construction project. "A big thank you goes to the tradespeople, who have worked very quickly and hard in corona times. Despite the circumstances, they are well on schedule, as far as that is possible under these difficult conditions," says Bärbel Springer.
Global Education gGmbH applied for the tender to build the three childcare centers in the town of Lehrte back in September 2018. Heike Koehler, Chairwoman of the Lehrte Youth Welfare Committee, First City Councillor Uwe Bee and the Mayor of Sievershausen, Armin Hapke, confirm that they are more than satisfied with the choice of childcare center provider and look forward to further cooperation with great confidence. "The town of Lehrte is very pleased to be opening a kindergarten here soon, which is a very special one, because this is the first time we have taken the path together with the council to place both the construction and operation of the kindergarten in one hand. There is also a great deal of expertise here, as Global Education gGmbH is not breaking new ground with this task, but is already operating daycare centers at several locations in Germany," emphasizes Bee.
Local mayor Hapke recalls once again that the development in the past did not always look so promising: "When I held the demographic report of the city of Lehrte in my hand in the summer of 2011, I had to read a chapter about Sievershausen stating that the birth rate was at a city-wide minimum. I was very concerned about the future development of our infrastructure and therefore called for more people to move in and for new building sites. You can certainly understand my pride and joy that we are celebrating the new childcare center here today.
In future, 65 children in two kindergarten groups and one crèche group will be able to explore, experiment and play at childcare center "ForscherWelt". In addition to the planned fresh food kitchen, movement and digital education as well as social learning are important aspects of the educational concept. The spacious rooms, which will soon be built, offer the children plenty of space and freedom. The special features of the facility are an extensive indoor area and an outdoor area with plenty of space for movement. "It is important for boys and girls, regardless of their background and parental home, to remain curious and enjoy learning. This allows them to develop a skill that is important for life. The search for answers must never be abandoned," emphasizes the mayor.
