The Heppenheim-based childcare center "InfectoPharm" offers parents a very special service: Using an app, they can take part in their children's childcare center everyday lives by having carers send them pictures and information about their children's daily routine. Our reporter Julia Möller spoke to mother Anna Gilster about the benefits of the app. 

"At first I was against it; our generation is often referred to as the helicopter parents and I thought, well, I've always felt good so far, I've dropped my child off in the morning and picked them up again in the evening and an app that tracks what the children are doing every day didn't appeal to me at first," explains Anna Gilster. But her initial reservations quickly disappeared: it is now a relief for her to see that her child is doing well while she is at work and she no longer wants to do without the app. But how exactly does it work?

Development steps are documented

Carers at childcare center enter everything that is relevant for parents into the app. This includes bedtimes, quality of sleep, meals and even diaper changes. This way, parents know exactly what their children's day looks like and how they are developing. Parents can also enter their own appointments in the app to let childcare center know that their child is ill or when the family is on vacation. Both parents and teachers are satisfied with the app. It has now been in use for a year and both parties no longer want to do without the digital communication channel.
