Studies repeatedly come to the conclusion that the majority of the population would like to live in their own home for as long as possible, even in old age. "Our care concept supports people in Essen who are ill and in need of care to live in their familiar surroundings," says Benjamin Romahn, Division Manager of pme Pflege. "We see a particular need, especially for people with limited everyday skills - for example, those with dementia. We are creating a special home care service for these people."
 

Advice plays a key role

In addition to individual care plans based on the customer's wishes, Benjamin Romahn attaches great importance to advising those in need of care and their relatives. "For example, we provide advice on applying for a care level, on further benefit entitlements from care and health insurance or on the assumption of costs by authorities and offices. This can significantly improve the quality of life of people in need of care." Benjamin Romahn knows what he is talking about. He has been working for the pme Familienservice Group for six years and advises customers on various care solutions, financial issues and psychosocial conflicts.
 

Better quality of life in old age through technology

As one of the few care services, pme Pflege also offers advice on the use of technical aids - so-called Ambient Assisted Living (AAL). "A system that detects falls and automatically sends an emergency call. Sensors that switch off the stove or coffee machine if it has been on for too long: these are technical innovations that help senior citizens to live independently and mobile in their own homes for longer," explains Benjamin Romahn, who has trained as an AAL consultant.

In order to optimize customer care beyond the topic of care, pme Pflege establishes a network of local players, e.g. doctors, therapists, pharmacies, medical supply stores and supermarkets. "Anyone who has not yet found the right partner can rely on receiving a good recommendation from us. We also ensure smooth processes at the interfaces," says Romahn.

pme Pflege is initially starting in Essen and would like to expand its services to the whole of Germany in the long term.
