Stefanie Stöger is usually called when the mother is still in a meeting and can't make it to childcare center in time. Or very early in the morning if the childminder is unavailable at short notice, but the father has no opportunity to take the day off.
The children, says Stöger, are usually very relaxed. They are allowed to stay in their familiar surroundings, play with their toys and sleep in their beds. And Stöger meets some parents months later and hears that the children still talk enthusiastically about the day when the emergency mother was there for them for a few hours.
