Participation basically refers to various forms of involvement and participation or co-determination. Participation in child day care and child day care facilities is the serious, age-appropriate participation of children in everyday childcare as part of their upbringing and education. The basic prerequisite for successful participation is a positive attitude on the part of the childminders and educators. The children must be perceived and taken seriously as discussion partners without blurring the boundaries between adults and children. Participation should also be practiced in cooperation with parents.
