Children with AD(H)S/ADS (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) are often met with little understanding. They disrupt the "normal" course of things. In childcare, it is all the more important to recognize the children and their needs and to create a framework in which they can show their strengths.
We outline the causes and symptoms and describe the challenges in dealing with the children. The aim is to interact in a supportive and accepting manner. Dealing with an environment that is often incomprehensible is another important point. The focus is on how to deal with this in everyday childcare settings.
