"pme donates" campaign 2024: the winning organizations

The "pme donates" fundraising campaign has been running for four years, giving pme team members the opportunity to nominate charitable organizations in the areas of international development aid, social work, climate and animal protection and culture for a donation, which they actively support. All team members then vote for the organizations they want to support. The organizations with the most votes receive a donation from pme Familienservice.

In 2024, six national and international organizations will receive a total of 50,000 euros in donations.

Vazhlivi Foundation: Children of fallen defenders of Ukraine

Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, Ukrainian parents have faced the challenge of supporting their children in the midst of war and uncertainty. In response, child psychologist Olga Tovpeko set up a team of volunteer psychologists with the 'Vazhlivi' foundation to offer psychological support to parents and children in Ukraine.

The "Children of Fallen Warriors" program offers free, weekly online groups with psychologists to children who have lost loved ones. The aims of the groups are to Help with processing the loss, reduce stress-related burdens associated with the loss and provide mutual support for children going through similar experiences.

"Moments of joy" with Nestwärme e.V.

Nestwärme e.V. gives families with children who live with a disability or chronic illness special experiences.

The moments of joy" project from Nestwärme e.V. offers these families a space to experience joy together - far away from the challenges of everyday life. The focus is not on expensive activities, but on simple, heart-warming experiences that respect the individual feelings of the child with a disability and involve the whole family.

With their commitment, volunteers create inclusive encounters that not only bring joy, but also facilitate exchange and new connections. These moments are invaluable for the families and leave lasting memories that give them strength and solidarity.

Rote Scheune e.V. - Refuge for animals and people

The Red Barn is not just a place, but an idea: the idea that you can do something if you just want to. The idea becomes visible on the farm - it transports the idea directly and "hands-on". Animals that need a refuge live here: from the slaughterhouse, from bad living conditions or from a life in an animal shelter.

But it's about more than that. It's about helping where help is needed, it's about communicating things and empathy and about not just talking about the need to do something, but doing it. And there is a lot "to do". The Red Barn is not a "place of mercy", because the animals don't need mercy, they need respect.

1001 language: bilingual picture books from Bücherpiraten e.V.

Reading promotion experts from all over the world agree: the first contact with a book should be in the mother tongue. But unfortunately there are very few bilingual picture books. The project "1001 language: bilingual-picturebooks". It promotes the first book contact in the mother tongue - often a rarity for refugee children, children in indigenous language communities and children with a migration background. The aim is to lower educational barriers and give children a voice.

1001 Language offers bilingual picture books in which the stories written by children are translated into numerous languages. Over 200 volunteers make it possible to create free, individual language combinations that families, schools and childcare centers can download.

Education for Uganda with EduConnect Uganda Bonn e.V.

The Bonn association EduConnect provides children and young people in Uganda with educational opportunities so that they can find their place in society. With the help of donations, the organization enables the entire school operation of an elementary school in Matugga. This enables children from the poorest families to receive an education.

At the further education center in Kasawo, EduConnect provides non-material and financial support for the vocational training and further education of teenagers and young adults. Under the motto "Helping people to help themselves", the association aims to offer children and young people the chance to build a better future for themselves. This also means that they must be connected to the electricity grid and have free access to clean water before language and computer courses as well as lessons in cooking, baking and sewing can begin.

Menstruation education with Periodensystem e.V.

Periodensystem e.V. from Berlin provides education on period poverty and menstruation. Donations are used to provide those in need with period and hygiene products and educational work is carried out in collaboration with artists, gynecologists, schools and companies.

The association works closely with homeless shelters, emergency shelters and social institutions to provide them with donations and menstrual and hygiene products.

The online community on Instagram and Facebook is used to raise awareness about period poverty, menstruation and equal rights. Workshops are also offered for companies, schools and events in order to raise awareness of the topic among as many social groups as possible.
