Couples therapy: what's the point? | Cheerful to stormy
Episode 9: What's the point of couples counseling? Many couples only go to couples counseling when the fronts have hardened, communication is frozen and conflicts are smouldering. But it's worth going to couples therapy much earlier.
In every relationship, there are moments when at least one person has the feeling: "It's just not right anymore". Long-term relationships in particular are prone to crises: the butterflies are gone, everyday life is here, and the partner and his or her characteristics can be quite annoying.
Or the opposite happens: We hardly notice each other anymore, live past each other and eating a bag of potato chips together on the sofa on a Sunday while watching the crime scene is the weekly highlight of intimate togetherness.
With the help of couples counseling, couples can learn to rebuild closeness and resolve conflicts. Couples therapy can also help couples to say goodbye to each other.
