Children's costume: The little airplane
Rose Monday parade, Bützchen and throwing material: if these are the only topics left, then the 2018 carnival season is in full swing. But what are we dressing our child up as this year? The carnival parades in particular sometimes pose a bit of a challenge for parents and children. On the one hand, the children want to proudly present their colorful costume, but on the other hand, they don't want to be without a warm jacket when the temperatures drop below freezing again. We have a great idea for a quick and inexpensive cardboard airplane. Your child is guaranteed to be the star of the carnival parade.
Children's costume in no time at all
This little airplane is very quick to make. It took me about 30 minutes to make it. Painting it takes another 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the amount of work involved. So that the child doesn't have to hold the airplane in their hands the whole time, I attached two straps so that they can carry the costume loosely on their shoulders.
And here are the instructions for your self-made airplane
You need an old cardboard box that is not too heavy and only a little wider than the child's hips. I simply used a shopping crate, which can now be found at the checkouts in the larger supermarkets.
Turn the crate over and cut out the bottom with scissors or a carpet knife.
You can still use the base. Use this to make the wings of the airplane. Simply draw a diagonal line and round off the tip a little.
Then mark approx. five centimeters at the wide ends and fold over.
Now apply the craft glue to the folded-over area and glue the wings to the sides of the cardboard. Do the same with the tail of the airplane. Simply make a rudder from a small piece of extra cardboard and glue it on too.
Now you can decorate the airplane as you wish. I primed it with white colored paint because it shines so beautifully and added blue and red accents.
Finally, I made straps from gaffa tape and attached them to the sides of the airplane. But you can also use suspenders, ribbons or similar. There are no limits to your imagination here.
And off you go! Hellau! Alaaf!
Important note: The airplane costume is not a toy and should be worn under parental supervision.
