Launch of the "Stay in the conversation - show attitude" campaign

# StayInTalk: We are living in turbulent times and our society seems deeply divided on issues such as war, migration, climate change, gender and vaccination. This polarization does not stop at family and friendships or the world of work. With the "Keep talking - take a stand" campaign, we are encouraging people to keep talking, even when differences in attitude and opinion seem irreconcilable. The campaign starts on September 11, 2024.

"Stay in the conversation - show attitude" campaign

How do we deal with it when we encounter fundamentally different opinions or are confronted with statements such as "Millennials are spoiled and undisciplined", "Climate change doesn't exist" or "Foreigners are taking our jobs"?

When exclusionary or derogatory remarks are made, we are often speechless. Instinctively, we either go on the attack or say nothing. We often lack the strength or the communicative means to respond without being divisive.

Cooperation in polarized times

Many different groups come together in the workplace: people of different nationalities, all ages, different genders and sexualities and with different political attitudes.

When opinions clash, the ease of professional contact is often lost. Team members no longer feel they belong and withdraw, others are the spokespeople, subgroups form in the teams and individuals are excluded. Elsewhere, communication is often reduced to the bare essentials, a tense atmosphere prevails and fronts harden.

The result: absenteeism and error rates increase, satisfaction decreases. This is a major challenge for employers and managers.

Staying in conversation, even if we don't always agree, is the great art. This is exactly where our campaign comes in with the question 'How do we manage to communicate on an equal footing? - Alexa Ahmad, Managing Director of the pme Familienservice Group
