Interior of the childcare center Überseeinsel Bremen

Opening of the childcare center "Überseeinsel" in Bremen

(Bremen, February 26, 2025). Since January 2025, the new daycare center "Überseeinsel" has enriched the childcare offer in Bremen. It is run by pme Familienservice Bremen gGmbH. The childcare center was built by the general contractor Köster-Bau and offers modern, lovingly designed rooms in a central location.

In the "Überseeinsel" childcare center , 40 kindergarten children aged 3 to school age are cared for in an open workshop concept. There is also space for 20 crèche children aged 1 to 3 years, who are cared for according to the principles of Pikler education.

"In our childcare center , we promote the individuality of each child through an open team that works in a participatory manner and offers space for self-determined learning, inspired by Pikler's pedagogy," describes facility manager Sandra De Rose. "Through our workshop pedagogy concept, we enable the children to develop creatively and gain practical experience while acting independently in a supportive environment."

Diverse spaces for individual development and fulfillment

The "Überseeinsel" childcare center offers bright, modern rooms with flexible play and design options. As part of the workshop pedagogy, children aged 3 to 6 can choose different themed rooms to play and learn in, where they are supervised by pedagogical specialists.

Elisabeth Nienaber, Kitamanagement Region Nord: "We design flexible room concepts that are tailored to the needs of children of different ages and meet the necessary safety standards. Our generously designed rooms and outdoor area offer plenty of space for different activities."

A holistic approach to educational priorities

The childcare center works according to the nationwide quality concept of the pme Familienservice Group, which is ensured by regular audits and certifications. The pedagogical work is based on a multifaceted concept that offers children space for self-determined learning, creative development and holistic development:

  • In the "Little Scientists' House", children can discover scientific relationships through play.

  • Autonomous movement development, free play and relational, cooperative care according to the Pikler/Hengstenberg pedagogy.
  • The holistic pre-school work carefully prepares the children for the start of school and is supplemented by targeted language education, social learning and emotional development as well as creative development and early musical education.
  • The individual development of each child is monitored through continuous observation and documentation. External collaborations expand the educational offer and enrich the childcare center as a lively place to learn and meet.
