When your partner, sister or best friend is diagnosed with cancer, the question arises: How can I provide support? What do I need to pay attention to now? What gives the person affected strength?

In addition to the emotional challenges, there are many organizational questions for partners and families: Who takes care of the household, the shopping? How will the partnership be restructured?

Relatives who provide support can reach their limits. "It is a time of enormous psychological stress. Open communication, both with the sick family member and within the family itself, is crucial," says Michael Kunkel. He not only advises people in difficult life situations, he himself was a relative of a partner with cancer and knows all about the challenges of cancer.
